Meet the new collection: Less Is More

Once again something new for our fans and for ourselves. While we used to be known for large high-impact gemstones, our new selection also features a parade of small but no less awesome gems.

Sometimes it really does take little for a piece of jewellery to have an impact, but still... Where did this idea for small gemstones come from? Which gemstones can be found in the collection? What could you do with these tiny pieces of jewellery?

Our Less Is More started with... our lovely customers, of course, particularly the younger ones. We used to have a children’s collection, these cute little pieces of jewellery. They were bought mainly by young women, not for their children but for themselves.

Small has become a trend

We have noticed and remembered women’s and especially young women’s love of small-scale jewellery for a while now but wearing mini-rings has become a trend for young people at the moment. It is understandable – not everyone can wear large jewellery everywhere, but a small touch of colour can provide an important accent to the appearance.

A simple form (many forms, really) that lets the gemstone shine

Mairi, the creator of the collection, says that her goal was to give jewellery a simple form so that nothing would overshadow the gemstone. Many only have a triple ‘silver paw’ holding the gem, so that the light could reach the gem and make it shine.

One of the cool things about Less Is More is that you can choose between many different gem cuts. You might think that a gem cut is a gem cut, what is there to choose, but no, we know better – women can have a hundred different demands. ‘You have a square, but I want a drop!’, ‘You have a trilliant, but I want round forms!’. And now, here you go – we have drops, squares, trilliants, and rounds. But alas, no amoeba-shape. If we start getting requests one day, we will order some.

A real parade of awesome gemstones at a perfectly reasonable price

Marika and Mairi, the heart of Wildwoman, are still true lovers of gemstones and, to be honest, not just lovers but also gemmologists educated in the best school in the world, the GIA. And the heart of a true gem lover always bleeds when a beautiful material is not formed into a piece of jewellery. But the problem was always that special gemstones are really expensive. But now that the gemstone inside the jewellery is small, it is also affordable in terms of the price!

And what a salve it was for Mairi’s soul! To frolic about with gemstones and focus on selecting without having to look at the price all the time. (Is that not something that all the shoppers in the world can relate to?) And oh, what gemstones are available in this collection. It is not just large, it is a knock-you-socks-off selection!

Green kyanite, pure tanzanite, apatite in a cool shade that are rarely found. Mandarin garnet that is super rare. Exceptionally beautiful and pure Ethiopian opal. Tsavorite that is actually a green garnet and very-very rare. Gorgeous bright blue London topaz. And of course, the classics, the must-have-in-the-jewellery-box gemstones like the moonstone, garnet, and blue topaz. The list is even longer, but it would be a lot more fun to spend the time on selecting rather than reading about them.

And for those who care about the impact of the gemstone, it does not matter how small the gem, you will still get the effect. Blue topaz, for example, gives wisdom and relieves nervousness – win-win!

Wear one or more – you will still get the effect

Mairi, the creator of the collection, has always been fascinated by the observation that even one small dot on the finger can have a big impact. Hence the name of the collection, Less Is More – you need a little to say a lot.

But. If "less" is not a word that speaks to you, choose "more" – stack ten rings on your finger if you like, combine the whole rainbow if you will. Very effective. Very trendy. And no less importantly – totally doable in terms of the price.

Simply perfect as a gift

Less Is More jewellery is also a great choice for a gift. With their simple form and shape, they suit everyone. It would be hard to make a mistake. Affordable in terms of the price. And a perfectly appropriate gift for a young lady graduating from school.

A little true story. A young man would like to give his girlfriend a ring, but his heart worries – what if his lady misunderstands the gesture? Our shop fairy Reelika exclaims: ‘But give her three, then there’s no reason to misunderstand.’ Done!

Dignified materials from a dignified source

All jewellery in the Less Is More collection are made from 925 silver but are also available with gold plating.

The gemstones come from India, of course, because nowhere else in the world can you find such a selection and such quality polish. Whether the gemstone comes from Arizona or Peru, it is polished in India, because these guys there just know how to do it.

The gemstones and silver are shaped into jewellery by our partner in India. A man with a MacBook! Why would we mention that? Because we have never met another man like that in an Indian jewellery workshop. And not only does he have a MacBook, but he also 1) knows the meaning of a date, 2) understands what environmental protection means and not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk, 3) considers it important to use ‘fair trade’ materials just as we do and can prove the origin with certificates, 4) cares about the well-being of his employees. Believe me, it is no easy feat to find such a partner in India. And we have been looking for oh so long.

And now, let’s choose!

Remember, if you opt for less it is good, if you opt for more, it is still good, as long as you choose from the Less is More collection
